Does say more about the dog or the car manufacturer?

This happened here in Chattanooga:

Afterward the video stopped, the cops tried pepper spray and tasing the "bulldog" as the local newspapers called him.  Nothing slowed him down.  Later he took a couple bites out of a tire.

"Winston" spent a week at the shelter, and then was released back to his owner, who assured the community that he would be more careful and use a chain to tie him up instead of a nylon rope.  The judge also said that they had to go to TWO obedience classes.  Don't you know every dog trainer in town is looking forward to that opportunity??

Who are these dogs . . .

On The Daily Corgi?

It's really embarassing how much their person brags on them.  Shame on her.

Let's go home!

From now on, we will call Louisville "Poo E Ville." Even the hoomans succumbed to bugs!

Spencer made his Graduate Novice debut today. He had Q going right up until the last exercise - but he walked over the broad jump. It was a good learning experience for me - the rules say that the dog must be at least 8 feet from the jump, and that is where the judge draws a line for the exhibitor. I left Spencer at the line but what I should have done was put him another four feet or so back. Spence has a bum knee and he really only pushes off his good knee. If I gave him a bit more room, I hope having more running room would help him get over.

Glad I signed him up for a show in a couple of weeks!

QQ# 29 - Not so pretty

This morning reminded me of when I was taking the CPA exams a hundred
years ago. We used to say that if we scored more than a 75 on an exam,
all that meant was that we studied too much.

Well, if these had been CPA exams, we studied just about right - 77 on
each leg!! He thought he was starving to death (I didn't feed him
because I didn't want a repeat of yesterday) and it took all the
strength he had to drag himself from one station to the next.

He didn't wake up in Exc until I stepped on him and then he was pretty
perky. But he completely refused to sit and wait until I called him on
the "sit turn one step right and come to sit" - he refused to wait in
both Exc and Adv.

Oh well, we'll take the green ribbons and be proud. And since he was
the only Cardi entered in Rally, those lousy 77s also won him High
Scoring Cardigan and a fabulous basket of goodies!

Look what I found for sale

It's the Trio of Terror! Grace, Moira and Scout as 6 month old
puppies on a luggage tag.

Louisville is just not our town

Last year and the year before, Scout became very ill here and missed
showing with nasty intestinal goings-on. So this year Cheryl brought
water from home for her, and I brought some also.

When Spencer and I got to the hotel Wednesday night (Scout rode up
with Cheryl) I did not take the jug up to the room - I just didn't
think about it. So, Spencer drank hotel water.

About 2 am this morning, Spencer jumped up and told me as clearly as
he could, " I GOTTA GO NOW!"

He had another bout this morning, and then, unfortunately again in the
obedience ring. Right in the middle of what was looking to be a
beautiful heeling pattern.

So now he is hopefully sleeping it off and we will try again on Sunday.

Standing Guard

Apparently there is a PETA presence in Frankin. They are making
regular PA announcements that there has been an incident and that
exhibitors need to keep an eye on their setups.

Henpeck Market, Franklin TN

As the sign on the wall says, "Where else can you get motor oil, salad
oil, and oil paintings?"

Or in my case, Greek salad, cornbread salad, and chicken and wild rice
salad and a cold Snapple.

Time is sneaking up on us

Things seem to have been busier than usual lately so long time no post.  I have also been lurking around on Facebook which has taken up some time that I normally would have been puttering around here.

We have been slacking on obedience practice also.  I woke up the other morning and realized that a week from Friday Spence is entered in Graduate Novice in Louisville and it had been two weeks since he had a dumbbell in his mouth!  I am letting my wish to have him get this title at the Specialty cause me to get him in the ring probably before either of us are ready for it, which of course is a recipe for disaster.

Oh well - we are working tonight on generating some excitement over the dumbbell. He takes the dumbbell, and holds it while I type a bit, then he gives it back to me and I give him a treat.

BTW - our treat of choice tonight are Benevolent Biscuits from LaserMonks, where you can buy both printer ink and dog treats and support a good cause at the same time.  The picture shows the apple blossom cookies to be shaped like flowers, but they actually look like little communion wafers - I guess that's appropriate!

That's all for now - Spence and I are going to go commune over cookies and a dumbbell.
