Not our finest moment

As a kid in my house, Saturday evening meant "HeeHaw" on tv, a countryfied version of "Laugh-In." One of my favorite parts of it was a sketch where they sang:

"Gloom, despair and agony on me-e!
Deep dark depression, excessive misery-y!
If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all!
Gloom, despair and agony on me-e-e!"

We are at a show in Greenville, SC this weekend. Today Scout went in the ring and did something I have never seen her do before. When judging was over, I was singing that song.

Scout has never lacked in the confidence department. She is one tough, spunky girl. She is a red bitch in every sense of the word.

So what the heck happened here? (The link takes you to YouTube. I don't want this clip haunting me on my blog, so I am just posting a link. The drama starts on her down and back, about 1:15 in.)

The behavior continued for the rest of the time she was in the ring. Once she got out of the ring, everything was fine.

Wonder what tomorrow will bring?

That was some odd behavior! Wilson does that odd ducking motion when he doesn't want to go for a walk in the same direction I want to go. He will pull back and down, hoping to slip his collar. Not sure what Scout was thinking...Did she need to go potty maybe?

Wow that's really weird! I have never seen Scout shy away from anything, I wonder if it was a smell in that corner?? Biz-freaking-zarre.

I think it's Scout's way of informing you of her new policy: "No sheep no move, sister."

That was really odd -- and we'll never know what she was thinking.

She still got pulled even with her odd behavior.

Oh, poor baby! I am not seeing a dog misbehaving; I am seeing a dog who doesn't want to move because something is not what she expected. She's reluctant to move the whole time, and is very uncertain even on the stack - she knows she's supposed to stand pretty but her tail says she feels something bad. I'd check her lymph nodes under her collar (swollen?) and watch her very closely in the yard as she moves around to make sure she doesn't have a twinge somewhere. If there's no source of pain, I agree with Jeri that there was something she thought was Very Evil in that corner.

So weird, esp how it's ONLY in the corner. Esp since other dogs did the same thing.

If only we knew what she, and the other dogs smelled!

Janet, I notice on the way down, her tail was really hardly up off the ground at all. I know Scout usually has a much happier tail, and it looks like it took effort just to hold it almost level. Just one brief wag toward the corner. I hope she's feeling better...
